With its optional five-port Ethernet card, you can now use the SEL-487B-2 Bus Differential and Breaker Failure Relay With Sampled Values or TiDL Technology to provide distributed protection for busbars with a phase-segregated differential scheme.
When three relays are used in a phase-segregated scheme, each can subscribe to as many as 24 IEC 61850 Sampled Values streams (21 for currents and 3 for voltages) to provide protection for large busbars with up to 21 terminals.
The SEL-487B provides bus current differential protection, circuit breaker failure protection, and backup overcurrent protection. Standardizing on the SEL-487B simplifies configuration and gives you the ability to apply the SEL-487B for small or large busbars, making busbar protection easier to configure in IEC 61850 Sampled Values systems. This solution significantly improves safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
